Bio:

Doug has been coaching with the Shooting Stars/Evergreen Club since 2003 and is the current coach of both the GU’13 and GU’18 teams. Prior to that Doug was an assistant coach for the UW men’s team (in the mid-90’s when they had a run that culminated in a #1 national ranking and many of the players he coached are currently playing in the MLS.  Doug’s playing experience includes five years in professional soccer first with the Vancouver ‘86ers in ’92-’93, and then the Seattle Sounders ’93-’96’ (during which time they won 2 straight A-League Championships). Doug was a Division 1 scholarship athlete at the University of Washington, and has an assortment of accolades as a youth player (2 state titles with the Cascade Bruins; 4 years of ODP; and a state championship with his local select team). After he finished playing, Doug attended Stanford Law School and he is now a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Snohomish County.

 

Shelby Benn offers over 15-years of coaching experience with youth, high school, and college teams. She is a former Division 1 scholarship athlete and two-time team captain at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. As a youth player, she has played in the national finals, three regional championships, and won five state championships between the ages of U-13 through U-18. Shelby was a member of the state and regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) and lettered in both soccer (4-yrs) and basketball (2-yrs) at Meadowdale High School. Shelby began coaching select youth soccer in 2002 with the former “Shooting Stars” club which then became “Evergreen” and is now “Washington Rush.” Prior to joining with the Stars organization, she coached at Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale High Schools, as well as Edmonds Community College. Shelby holds a BA in Child Psychology and works with children and their families as a Case Manager in Snohomish County.
